The Fiat 8001 Turbina was presented at the Turin motor show in 1954. Along with the Rover Jet 1 and the GM XP-21 Firebird, it was one the first cars ever to be propelled by a gas turbine. This one-off experimental car was based on the the Fiat 8V designed by Fabio Lucio Rapi. The body displayed stabilizing fins and a sleeker body without headlamps for improved aerodynamics. With 295 bhp at 30500 rpm, a drag
coefficient of only Cd=0.14 and thanks to its flowing red graphics, the
car was capable of reaching a top speed of about 160mph.
